Wye Oak are a Baltimore duo comprised of Andy Stack and Jenn Wasner. Their sound is a blend of American folk and indie rock and their songs often focus on universal themes like family and growing up. Their new record Civilian is no exception. With songs that Wasner says focus on "aloneness (the positive kind), loneliness (the horrible kind), moving on, and letting go (of people, places, and things)," Civilian sounds a lot like something we can all relate to. Wye Oak's is 21st-century folk music, imbued with dense shoegaze guitars, nearly melodic rhythms, and impeccable splashes of electronic color. Baltimore never sounded so good.
