Although they only recorded a handful of EPs and one studio LP between the years of 1979 and 1981, Mission of Burma pretty much define American post-punk. Now that may seem like a big statement to make, but let's just take a look at the list of bands who count Mission of Burma as an influence: Sonic Youth, R.E.M., The Pixies, Superchunk, Nirvana, and, well, it just goes on from there...

Reformed in 2002, the group has not only been touring, but they've recorded some new material as well. With the release of their latest album - Unsound - Mission of Burma is proving that their reputation as punk heroes is still very much deserved.
