Urban folkie Damien Jurado is a quiet guy. He's built up one of the strongest catalogs on the indie scene, earned high critical praise, and yet never quite gotten his proper due. Perhaps it's because he's modeled his career on some of the more idiosyncratic, unpredictable figures in music - people like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, or Randy Newman - songwriters who followed their own muse wherever it took them, whether fans and critics agreed or not. Or perhaps it's because his punk roots have kept him firmly independent over the years. Jurado may be a little hard to find but once you do it's worth the trouble.
