Cane & The Sticks digs in with a cavernous sound from DC's underground. Washington City Paper nails it: "[frontman Pete] Hayes' vocals are disaffected indie-pop cool, but his guitar playing—abusive, bluesy, slightly stoned—is straight-up Blue Cheer." With help from drummer/vocalist Liz DeRoche and bassist Arthur Noll, Hayes's unhappy themes are shot-through with propulsive hooks that are more Strangler than jangler.
