She Keeps Bees may be a guitar-and-drums duo with some serious blues and country roots, but don't get it twisted: the sound is far more Cat Power and Amy Winehouse than White Stripes or Black Keys. And the reason is singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jessica Larrabee, whose smoky voice and Dusty-in-Memphis phrasings are enough to make those comparisons stick...even if she is less of an R&B purist than Marshall or Winehouse.
