Black Dog Prowl is considered one of Washington, DC's hardest hitting rock bands. The four-piece showcases original material ranging from the slow, down-tuned to a fast-paced kick in the teeth. If one insists on drawing a line to the familiar, BDP has drawn sonic comparisons to the likes of Soundgarden, Torche, and Nirvana. The band has built their reputation on a powerful live show, playing and headlining notable DC area venues like Black Cat, DC9, Rock & Roll Hotel, Velvet Lounge, and The Fillmore Silver Spring; and sharing the stage with renowned acts like Steel Panther, Candlebox, The Parlor Mob, The Answer, and A Thousand Horses. DC Music Download hails that "without a doubt... these guys have owned every performance they've done. The band never misses a step throughout a set - the bellowing bass, explosive drums, intense energy and robust vocals of frontman Josh Finver all make for a powerful show." On December 4, 2015, the band was the supporting act for Candlebox's sold-out show at the historic Teatro Cariola in Santiago, Chile. Local press, HumoNegro.com, praised the band for "delivering 40 minutes from all the power and intensity of its characteristic indie rock sound with shades of grunge, in a show marked by melodies rife with energy and dynamism...." In 2016, the band recorded and released the EP Have A Little, featuring the single "Shame." Independently released, Have A Little marked the band's first new release since the 2013 single "No Robots" and their fourth studio effort. On March 2017, as the band embarked on a tour through Mexico, Black Dog Prowl also digitally released The Voice Memo Bootlegs. The live EP is a compilation of live tracks from the band's live and acoustic sets, including the debut of the previously unreleased track "Salt the Earth," a song which will be among the band's new material set to be released in the Summer of 2018.
