The Black Cat has two performance spaces, the Mainstage and the Backstage, in addition to the no-cover Red Room Bar.
Mainstage
The Mainstage consists of a 7000 square-foot performance room and features high-quality, professional sound, a large floorspace that affords great sight lines, and a rock club atmosphere unparalleled in DC. This room features national independent touring acts, local bands suitable for a larger club atmosphere, and monthly DJ dance events. Our Mainstage has hosted the best underground/ alternative acts that DC has to offer, as well as some of the most amazing national acts around. Tickets for Mainstage events are available in advance at our box office between 8pm and midnight (cash only - no service charge) or through Ticketmaster (202-397-SEAT, www.ticketmaster.com or any Ticketmaster location). You can also buy them at the door on the night of the show.
Our shows are all-ages. No one under the age of 21 may consume alcohol. Those under the age of 18 may attend, but we prefer them to have parental permission and be accompanied by an adult. Please be aware that DC has a Curfew Law which affects those 17 and under. Curfew hours go into effect at 11:00pm Sunday-Thursday (weekedays) and at 12:01am on Saturday or Saturday (weekends). If you are 17 or younger you must be out of the club by the times stated, unless accompanied by a parent.

Backstage
The Backstage is located downstairs next to the Red Room Bar and offers an intimate state-of-the-art performance space with a capacity of about 200. Recent events on the Backstage have included indie, punk, and garage rock bands, solo artists, DJ dance nights, monthly spoken word events, and independent film screenings.
Doors for the Backstage open at 9pm on weekdays, although it is always a good idea to check door times as these are subject to change. The opening act goes on 1/2 hour later than the posted door time. You can also buy them at the door on the night of the show. Weekend (Friday and Saturday) dance nights open at 9:30pm. Advance tickets are not available for Backstage dance nights.
